Belgian Grand Prix Weekend
niclas pedersen, 12:06h
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps Grand Prix was the first Formula 1 race after the summer break. Many things happened during this race, which we will be getting into now:
Charles Leclerc: Charles has had an interesting season with Ferrari, getting very close to his maiden F1 victory multiple times, but being struck by bad luck every time; Crashing on the last lap of the Baku GP, and experiencing an engine failure in Bahrain.
But, with an absolutely stunning qualifying lap, and an amazing job at holding off Hamilton, Leclerc has finally made it to the top of the podium.
This weekend was a difficult one for Leclerc, losing long time friend Anthoine Hubert just one day before the race, due to a fatal crash during the F2 feature race
Alexander Albon: Red Bull decided to drop Pierre Gasly, due to a lack of performance compared to their Dutch superstar Max Verstappen. In favor of Gasly, Red Bull brought on their junior driver Alex Albon.
The thai driver started the race in 17th, due to an engine swap, but thanks to an amazing performance, he ended the weekend in P5.
We’re excited to see what this young driver has in store for the rest of the season.
Max Verstappen: Watching the Belgian GP, you might have noticed a sea of orange in the tribunes, all rooting for their countryman Max Verstappen.
Going into turn one, of lap one, Max was forced to take the inside line, next to Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Räikkönen. The two collided, but at first it seemed like neither had experienced any major damage, but going into the au rouge complex of corners, Verstappen’s steering assembly showed it had been affected by his earlier collision with the Iceman, and gave up, sending Max flying into the tire wall, ending his race then and there, and leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of the orange army.
There we have it, the Belgian Grand Prix weekend. An exciting event for sure, leaving us with a lot of excitement for next week’s Italian Grand Prix.
